I’m not going to blog about the inevitable Senate confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett.
Because I know you know it’s utter bullshit.
I don’t have to tell you that her “originalist” philosophy is nonsense and disproven by the very fact she is vying for this position.
I don’t have to tell you that the fact the GOP-led Senate will work through the weekend on a SCOTUS nomination and not a relief bill for millions of Americans suffering through a pandemic – some of the suffering caused by Republican ineptitude – is callous and exactly why they all need to be removed from office.
I don’t have to tell you that Republicans position on confirming her while an election is going on, when she herself even said about Justice Scalia during the Garland scandal that a SCOTUS nom., especially one so different from the radically conservative Scalia, shouldn’t happen during an election YEAR, is the definition of hypocrisy.
I don’t have to tell you that now there will be 3 alumni of the Bush v. Gore 2000 case (on the side of Bush) seated on the Supreme Court and how terrifying that is if this election is contested.
I don’t have to tell you that Amy Coney Barrett will probably vote to overturn ACA 2 weeks after the election kicking millions off their healthcare.
I don’t have to tell you that with her on the bench reproductive rights, environmental causes, worker’s rights, etc are all on the line.
I don’t have to tell you that “court packing” is something Republicans are guilty of, not Democrats.
I don’t have to tell you that one of the reasons we need to win is so we can rebalance the courts – adding judges and trying to make this process de-political again.
I don’t need to tell you to go to the polls and vote with all of this in mind.
We need to send a message loud and clear. This will not fly.
We need to vote them out up and down the ballot.
